On Friday, March 22, 2025, Verso Energy officially inaugurated its 5 MWp solar power plant in Lirac, located in the Gard region of southern France. Built on the site of a former phosphate mine, this project exemplifies the potential of transforming industrial brownfields into sources of green energy.
Local Renewable Energy Production
With a capacity of 5 MWp, the Lirac solar power plant will generate nearly 7.4 GWh of electricity each year—enough to cover the annual consumption of 3,400 people. It will also help avoid the emission of 1,800 tonnes of CO₂ annually, making a strong contribution toward national and European climate targets.
Inauguration in the Presence of Local Stakeholders
We extend our sincere thanks to the elected officials and institutional representatives who honored us with their presence at the inauguration. Their support reflects the local roots of the project and highlights the vital collaboration between public and private actors in advancing the energy transition.
We would particularly like to thank:
• Cédric Clémente, Mayor of Lirac
• Monique Novaretti, Regional Councillor
• Claude Philip, Mayor of Tavel
• Bernard Julier, Vice President of the Gard Rhodanien urban community
• Patrick Scorsone, Departmental Councillor
A Project Built Through Partnership
We would like to extend our warmest thanks to our partner Bouygues Énergies & Services, whose expertise was key to the success of this project, as well as to all the teams involved.
